How much profit did Thai companies earn from 2007 to 2025?

Add up every annual total and the answer is 38.28 trillion baht (DBD, 2026). That is the net profit reported by companies that filed a financial statement, summed over nineteen statement years. The last five years, 2021 to 2025, account for 13.65 trillion baht of it. That works out to 35.7 percent of the total. Five years out of nineteen is 26.3 percent of the calendar, so the recent stretch carries more than its share. The cause is partly growth and partly coverage. More companies file each year, and prices rise, so later years look bigger on any nominal scale.

Net profit of filing companies by statement year and running total, as of 14 Aug 2026. Amounts in trillion baht.

Why this matters

A yearly figure tells you how a year went. A running total tells you how much money the corporate sector has actually produced, and that is the number that funds dividends, tax bills and reinvestment. The last five years came close to matching the first ten. Those first ten years, 2007 to 2016, added 16.93 trillion baht, against 13.65 trillion baht for the final five. The cumulative picture also hides a slower story. Profit in 2025 is 2.91 times the 2007 level. Revenue grew 2.83 times over the same span. Across the whole period the aggregate net margin is 4.59 percent. Across the last five years it is 4.55 percent. Profit kept pace with revenue and only just outran it.

What the sum does not say

Nineteen years of filings are not nineteen years of the same companies. The filing count rose from 315,581 in 2007 to 730,322 in 2024, so later totals include many firms that did not exist or did not file earlier. The 2025 count of 715,339 sits below 2024, which suggests some statements are still arriving. The total is also nominal. A baht earned in 2007 bought more than a baht earned in 2025, and no inflation adjustment is applied here.

Nominal
Measured in baht of the year earned, without adjusting for inflation.

Assumptions

Methodology

Each annual figure is the total net profit of all companies with a filed financial statement for that statement year, taken from the Department of Business Development registry aggregates. The database stores statement years in the Buddhist calendar, so 2550 to 2568 is converted to 2007 to 2025. Year 2569 is excluded because it is incomplete. The cumulative figure is a plain sum of the nineteen annual totals, in nominal baht, with no inflation adjustment. Data as of 14 August 2026.
