Reported sector revenue in 2015 and 2025 with the ten-year change, as of 2 Jul 2026. Revenue is in billions of baht.
Why this matters
The decade reordered which sectors carry Thai growth. Two forces show up in the fastest risers. Health rode an aging population, with the national planning agency projecting that older adults will approach 30 percent of Thais by 2037 (NESDC, 2024). Agriculture pulled ahead on stronger export demand and higher farm prices, even though it stayed small in absolute size at 357.7 billion baht. Tourism-linked accommodation nearly doubled to 745.3 billion baht after a pandemic that erased more than a year of travel. The information and communication decline needs a careful read. Reported revenue for companies filing in that section fell 23.2 percent, and that partly reflects where large telecom groups book their revenue rather than falling demand for connectivity. Read every figure here as reported revenue for companies filing in each statement year, not as the full market size of each sector.
Definitions
- Reported revenue
- The total revenue reported in the financial statements filed by companies in a given industry section for a given statement year. It is not the full market size, because only companies that filed a statement are counted.
- Statement year
- The financial year that a filed statement covers. The 2015 and 2025 columns reflect filings for those statement years.
- Industry section
- A top-level grouping in the Thailand Standard Industrial Classification, such as agriculture, manufacturing, or human health and social work.
- Nominal value
- A baht figure that has not been adjusted for inflation, so part of any increase reflects rising prices rather than higher real activity.
Assumptions
- Only companies that filed a financial statement for the statement year contribute to a section total.
- Values are nominal, so a share of the ten-year change reflects inflation rather than real growth.
- The information and communication figure is treated as reported revenue for filing companies, which can shift when large telecom groups change where revenue is booked.
- Section totals can be affected by a small number of very large firms, so a section can move without every company in it moving the same way.
Methodology
Figures are aggregate reported revenue for companies that filed a financial statement in the given statement year, drawn from the Department of Business Development registry as of 2 July 2026. Sectors follow TSIC industry sections. The 2015 column reflects filings for statement year 2015 and the 2025 column reflects statement year 2025. Percent change is computed directly on those two reported totals. Values are nominal and not adjusted for inflation. When a large firm changes how or where it books revenue, a section total can move for reasons other than underlying demand, which is flagged for information and communication.
How we verified this
- Recomputed agriculture growth: (357.7 - 160.7) / 160.7 = 1.226, which is +122.6 percent, matching the brief.
- Recomputed human health growth: (452.7 - 212.7) / 212.7 = 1.128, which is +112.8 percent, matching the brief.
- Recomputed information and communication change: (648.6 - 844.8) / 844.8 = -0.232, confirming a negative sign at -23.2 percent.
- Sorted all twelve sections by percent change and confirmed agriculture ranks first and information and communication ranks last.
