Share of reported revenue across all 5-digit codes in the year, 2015 and 2025, with revenue in billion baht and filing companies. All five codes are in section G. As of 14 Aug 2026.

How concentrated is the shift?

Of 938 codes reporting in both years, 392 gained share. Their combined gain was 25.17 points. The top five hold 19.07 of those points, or 75.8 percent. Section G as a whole rose from 34.73 to 49.36 percent of reported revenue. That is a net gain of 14.63 points, smaller than the top five's 19.07. So other codes inside trade lost ground while these five surged. Code 47732 grew its revenue 11.02 times while its filing companies grew 4.03 times. Code 46492 is the odd one out. Its revenue rose 3.73 times while its filing count fell from 1,812 to 1,615. Fewer filers carried far more revenue.

Why this matters

A share is a ratio, so it can rise because a code grew or because the registry saw it better. Treat this as a map of where reported revenue now sits, not proof of where Thai commerce grew fastest. Even so, the pattern is hard to ignore. A single 5-digit code now holds more than one baht in eight of reported revenue. Anyone sizing a market, screening suppliers or benchmarking a competitor in trade should check which code a company files under. Two firms in the same section can sit in codes whose scale differs by an order of magnitude. Pair this page with the national accounts from the NESDC before drawing conclusions about the real economy (NESDC, n.d.).

Definitions

TSIC code
The Thailand Standard Industrial Classification code. The first letter marks the section and five digits mark the detailed industry.
Revenue share
A code's reported revenue divided by the sum of reported revenue across all codes in the same year.
Percentage point
The simple difference between two shares. Moving from 2 percent to 5 percent is a gain of 3 points.
Section G
Wholesale and retail trade, including repair of motor vehicles.

Assumptions

Methodology

Source: Department of Business Development registry aggregates by 5-digit TSIC code and statement year, rows computed 14 August 2026. Statement years are Buddhist era, so 2558 is 2015 and 2568 is 2025. Share is a code's reported revenue divided by the sum of reported revenue across all codes in that year. That denominator is 40.80 trillion baht in 2015 and 67.87 trillion baht in 2025, which is lower than the whole-registry total because only codes with year-level rows are summed. Codes present in both years were ranked by gain in share points. Section assignment comes from the code-level table. Codes cannot be named because the registry carries no English description for them. The 2026 statement year is excluded as incomplete.

Frequently asked questions

Which Thai industry code gained the most revenue share from 2015 to 2025?

Code 47732 in section G, wholesale and retail trade. Its share rose from 1.97 percent to 13.04 percent, a gain of 11.07 points.

Are all five top risers in the same section?

Yes. Codes 47732, 46621, 46492, 46900 and 46612 are all in section G, wholesale and retail trade.

Does a rising share mean the industry grew faster than the economy?

Not necessarily. Share also moves when more companies file or when registry coverage improves, so read it as where reported revenue sits.

Why are the codes not named?

The registry holds no English description for 5-digit codes, so this page names only the section.
