Why this matters

Most sectors chase growth and hope to keep it. Healthcare does both at once. A 73.9 percent survival rate means a health company registered in Thailand is more likely to still be trading than a firm in any other sector. That resilience rides on demand that does not fade with the business cycle, since people need care in good years and bad. The money follows the demand, with the reported revenue trajectory rising 112.8 percent across the decade to 2025. Structural forces sit underneath this. Thailand's current health expenditure reached about 5.16 percent of national output in 2021 and has trended upward for years (World Bank, 2023). An aging population widens that base further every year. For an investor or a policymaker, the read is plain. Healthcare pairs the rare combination of a defensive survival profile with the highest return on assets in the economy at 6.88 percent, and few sectors offer both.

Assumptions

Methodology

Figures cover the human health and social work section, TSIC section Q, drawn from the Department of Business Development registry as of 2 July 2026. Company count includes registered juristic persons classified to the section. Survival rate is the share of registered companies in the section that remain active rather than dissolved or deregistered. Net margin, return on assets and return on equity are section-wide aggregates computed from filed financial statements, not simple averages of individual company ratios. The ten-year revenue figures are the section's reported revenue trajectory for 2015 and 2025 and are stated in billions of baht. Ranks compare section Q against all other TSIC sections.
