Thai Corporate Revenue Versus Thailand's GDP, 2026
In short
Aggregate reported revenue across Thai companies reached 80.15 trillion baht as of 17 July 2026, about 4.31 times the size of Thailand's 18.58 trillion baht nominal GDP in 2024. The surplus alone, 61.57 trillion baht, is more than three times GDP on its own. Aggregate net profit reached 3.29 trillion baht, equal to 17.7 percent of GDP. The comparison is a measure of scale, not a claim that companies produce more than the whole country. Revenue counts sales passed along entire supply chains while GDP counts only the value added at each stage.
How does corporate revenue compare to Thailand's GDP?
Add up every baht of revenue Thai companies reported in their latest filed financial statements and the total comes to 80.15 trillion baht as of 17 July 2026 (DBD, 2026). Thailand's nominal GDP for 2024, the latest confirmed full year figure, stood at 18.58 trillion baht (NESDC, 2025). Divide one by the other and reported corporate revenue runs 4.31 times the size of the entire national economy. The gap between the two totals is 61.57 trillion baht, a surplus that is itself more than three times GDP. Even the profit line clears the bar with room to spare. Aggregate net profit across the same companies reached 3.29 trillion baht, equal to 17.7 percent of GDP on its own.
Three totals, one scale

Figures in trillion baht.
Corporate revenue dwarfs the national economy it sits inside, while profit alone still equals nearly a fifth of GDP.
Revenue, GDP and profit side by side
| Metric | Value (trillion baht) | Share of GDP |
|---|---|---|
| Aggregate corporate revenue | 80.15 | 431.4% |
| Thailand's nominal GDP, 2024 | 18.58 | 100.0% |
| Revenue minus GDP | 61.57 | 331.4% |
| Aggregate corporate net profit | 3.29 | 17.7% |
Three aggregate totals and each one's share of Thailand's 2024 GDP, as of 17 Jul 2026.
Why is corporate revenue so much bigger than GDP?
The headline ratio is not a claim that Thai companies produce more than the country they operate in, because revenue and GDP measure different things. GDP counts value added, the portion of output left after subtracting whatever a business buys from other businesses, precisely so a steel bar is not counted three times as it moves from a mill to a car parts maker to a car exporter. Revenue counts every one of those sales in full, so the same steel bar shows up in the top line of all three companies. That is the arithmetic reason a country's registered companies can report combined sales several times larger than the value the whole economy adds in a year. What the ratio does capture is genuinely useful. It shows how much commercial activity in Thailand moves through registered corporate structures rather than households, informal trade or government, and it puts the 80 trillion baht figure this site has published before into a scale a reader can actually feel.
Definitions
- Aggregate revenue
- The sum of annual revenue across every company that has filed a financial statement in the DBD registry.
- Nominal GDP
- The value of all goods and services produced within Thailand in a year, measured at current prices without adjusting for inflation.
- Value added
- The portion of a company's output left after subtracting the goods and services it purchased from other businesses, the building block that GDP sums across the whole economy.
- Filed financial statement
- An annual account a company submits to the Department of Business Development, the source of every revenue and profit figure on this site.
Assumptions
- Thailand's 2024 GDP figure is the latest full year figure confirmed by NESDC at the time of writing, since a finalized full year 2025 figure was not yet available in the source used here.
- Revenue and profit totals include only companies with a filed financial statement, not every registered entity, so the true corporate total is likely higher still.
- Revenue and GDP measure different concepts, gross sales against value added, so the ratio is a scale comparison rather than a claim about relative output.
Methodology
Aggregate revenue and net profit are summed across every Thai company with a filed financial statement in the DBD registry as of 17 July 2026. Thailand's nominal GDP is NESDC's full year 2024 estimate at current prices, the latest confirmed annual figure available at the time of writing. Every ratio here is revenue or profit divided by that GDP figure, recomputed directly rather than taken from outside commentary. The comparison is one of scale, not value added against value added, since company revenue is a gross sales figure and GDP already strips out the double counting created when companies sell to each other.
How we verified this
- 80,146,498,562,463.62 baht in aggregate revenue divided by 18,580,000,000,000 baht in 2024 GDP equals 4.3136, rounded to 4.31 times, or 431.4 percent of GDP.
- Revenue minus GDP, 80,146,498,562,463.62 minus 18,580,000,000,000, equals 61,566,498,562,463.62 baht, which is 331.4 percent of GDP, exactly 431.4 percent minus the 100 percent GDP itself represents.
- Aggregate net profit of 3,290,602,409,386.72 baht divided by GDP of 18,580,000,000,000 baht equals 17.71 percent, rounded to 17.7 percent.
- Companies with a filed financial statement, 1,264,734, divided by all registered companies, 1,989,709, equals 63.56 percent, consistent with the data guide's approximate 63.5 percent anchor.
