Thailand's Most and Least Durable Industry Codes in 2026

Updated 10 July 2026Data as of 7 July 2026Verified

In short

Industry code 86202 keeps 99.97 percent of its 2,926 registered companies active, the highest survival rate of any Thai TSIC code with at least 400 firms, as of 7 July 2026. Code 03111 sits at the opposite extreme, with only 3.21 percent of its 468 companies still active. That is a 96.76 percentage point gap between two codes drawn from the same national registry. The national average active share is 50.0 percent, so both extremes sit far outside the typical range, and neither is named here, only numbered.

Which industry codes survive best, and which collapse

Among the 462 five digit TSIC codes with at least 400 registered companies, one code towers above the rest. Code 86202 keeps 2,925 of its 2,926 registered companies active, a survival rate of 99.97 percent, verified against market_tsic_insight as of 7 July 2026 (DBD, 2026). It sits inside section Q, human health and social work, yet that whole section only averages 73.9 percent survival. At the opposite end, code 03111 has lost nearly all its companies. Only 15 of its 468 registrations remain active, a survival rate of 3.21 percent. Code 03111 sits inside section A, agriculture, where the section average survival rate runs to 55.7 percent. Neither extreme resembles the sector it belongs to. The national average active share across all 1,986,709 registered companies is 50.0 percent, so both codes sit far outside the typical range. The DBD registry leaves the plain English description blank for every five digit code, so both are presented here by number only, never named.

Why a code level story matters more than a section average

Section level statistics hide both of these stories completely. A reader who only sees that section Q averages 73.9 percent active would never guess that one code inside it keeps 99.97 percent of its companies going. A reader who only sees section A at 55.7 percent would never guess that one code inside it has shed 96.79 percent of its registrations. A separate ranking of Thai industry sections puts mining and quarrying at the bottom with 30.9 percent survival, yet the single worst performing code in this entire registry sits in agriculture, not mining, at just 3.21 percent. For an entrepreneur choosing which five digit code to register under, or a lender pricing risk by industry, the section average is not a safe stand in for the code. International agencies have tracked Thai SME survival as a policy indicator for over a decade (OECD, 2011). This registry shows why the code level, not just the section, is where that survival story actually plays out.

Definitions

Survival rate
The share of companies registered under a code that the DBD registry still marks active, expressed as a percentage of all companies ever registered under that code.
Active company
A company whose DBD registration status is not marked dormant, dissolved or deregistered.
TSIC code
Thailand's five digit Standard Industrial Classification code, the finest level of industry detail the registry publishes.
Section
One of 21 broad industry letters, such as Q for human health, that groups many five digit codes together.
Aggregate
A statistic built by summing or dividing totals across many companies, rather than describing any single firm.

Assumptions

Methodology

Survival rate is the share of companies registered under a five digit TSIC code that the DBD registry still marks active, as of 7 July 2026. Every one of Thailand's 1,228 codes was checked, but this page restricts its ranking to the 462 codes with at least 400 registered companies, so a rate is not swung toward zero or one hundred percent by a handful of firms. Section level figures, such as 73.9 percent for human health or 55.7 percent for agriculture, are separate aggregates built by summing every code inside that section. The DBD registry does not publish a plain English name for five digit codes, so codes are identified here only by number and by the broader section letter they belong to.

Frequently asked questions

Which Thai industry code has the highest company survival rate?

Code 86202, inside section Q for human health and social work, keeps 99.97 percent of its 2,926 registered companies active, the highest of any code with at least 400 companies.

Which Thai industry code has the lowest company survival rate?

Code 03111, inside section A for agriculture, has only 3.21 percent of its 468 registered companies still active, the lowest of any code with at least 400 companies.

Why not just look at the industry section instead of the code?

The section average hides the extremes. Section Q averages 73.9 percent survival and section A averages 55.7 percent, both far from the single codes that sit at the true top and bottom.

Why does this page not name the actual sub industry behind each code?

The DBD registry leaves the plain English description blank for every five digit code, so codes are reported here only by number and by the broader section they sit in.
