Bangkok vs the Rest of Thailand: Companies and Revenue (2026)
In short
Bangkok holds 40.9 percent of Thailand's registered companies but a much larger 61.5 percent of all reported revenue as of 2 July 2026. The capital's 812,799 companies generate about 47.1 trillion baht, against 29.5 trillion for the other 1,176,910 companies across the country. Bangkok is not just the biggest market, it is where the revenue concentrates.
How much bigger is Bangkok?
Bangkok is home to 812,799 registered companies, 40.9 percent of the national total (DBD, 2026). That alone makes it dominant. The revenue gap is wider still. Companies registered in Bangkok report about 47.1 trillion baht in revenue, which is 61.5 percent of the country's total. The remaining 1,176,910 companies outside the capital share the other 29.5 trillion baht between them.

What the gap means
The difference between Bangkok's 40.9 percent of companies and its 61.5 percent of revenue is the story. Headquarters, banks, large traders and listed groups register in the capital, so revenue pools there even when the work happens elsewhere. For anyone mapping the Thai market, Bangkok is the obvious first move, but the 1,176,910 companies beyond it, clustered in the industrial provinces nearby, are where much of the growth in company numbers is now coming from.
Definitions
- Rest of Thailand
- Every province except Bangkok, taken together as a single group.
- Revenue concentration
- The tendency for reported revenue to pool in a place out of proportion to its share of companies.
Assumptions
- Revenue is attributed to the province of registration, often a head office rather than the operating site.
- Only companies that filed a statement contribute to revenue totals.
Methodology
Bangkok figures are the company count and summed reported revenue for companies registered in Bangkok. The rest of Thailand is the national total minus Bangkok. Revenue covers companies that have filed a financial statement. All figures come from the DBD registry as of 2 July 2026. Revenue is attributed to the province of registration, which for large groups is often the head office rather than the site of operations.
