Updated 6 July 2026Data as of 2 July 2026Verified

In short

Two industry sections book 78.4 percent of all company revenue in Thailand as of 2 July 2026. Wholesale and retail alone reports 34.93 trillion baht, or 45.6 percent of the national total. Manufacturing adds 25.16 trillion baht, another 32.8 percent. The next 19 sections split the remaining 16.53 trillion baht between them. Revenue in Thailand is not spread across the economy. How lopsided is it?

Twenty-one industry sections make up the Thai economy, and two of them carry most of it. Wholesale and retail reports 34.93 trillion baht in revenue, which is 45.6 percent of the national total of 76.62 trillion baht (DBD, 2026). Manufacturing reports another 25.16 trillion baht, or 32.8 percent. Add those two and you reach 60.09 trillion baht, which is 78.4 percent of every baht of revenue booked by a Thai company. The gap after that is steep. Financial and insurance, the third-ranked section, reports 3.74 trillion baht, less than a ninth of what the leader books. Construction and transportation follow at 2.30 and 2.14 trillion baht. The top five sections together reach 68.27 trillion baht, or 89.1 percent, which leaves just 10.9 percent of national revenue for the other 16 sections combined.

Why this concentration matters

A revenue base this top-heavy tells you where the Thai economy is exposed. When 45.6 percent of company revenue runs through wholesale and retail, domestic consumption and import flows set the pace for almost half the corporate economy. NESDC put full-year growth in wholesale and retail trade at 6.1 percent for 2025, so the largest slice is also one of the faster-moving ones (NESDC, 2026). Manufacturing at 32.8 percent ties another third of revenue to export demand and factory output. Together those two forces move 78.4 percent of the number. The long tail matters for a different reason. Sections like financial and insurance report far less revenue than wholesale and retail, yet they keep much more of each baht as profit, so revenue rank is a poor guide to where the money actually stays. Read this page for scale, then read the profit pages for margin. Size and earnings are two different maps of the same economy.

Definitions

Industry section
A top-level grouping of the Thai Standard Industrial Classification, such as wholesale and retail or manufacturing. There are 21 sections.
Revenue concentration
The degree to which total revenue is booked by a small number of sectors rather than spread evenly across all of them.
Cumulative share
The running total of revenue share as sections are added in descending order of revenue. The top two sections reach a cumulative 78.4 percent.
Aggregate revenue
The sum of reported revenue across every filing company in a section, not the revenue of any single firm.

Assumptions

Methodology

Revenue figures are aggregate reported revenue for all registered juristic persons that filed a financial statement in each TSIC industry section, drawn from the Department of Business Development registry as of 2 July 2026. Shares are each section's revenue divided by the 76.62 trillion baht national total. Cumulative share sums the sections in descending revenue order. The bottom row groups all sections outside the top five. Figures are rounded to two decimal places in trillion baht, so component shares may not sum to exactly 100 percent.
