Revenue Concentration Among Thai Companies 2026
In short
Thailand's ten largest companies produce 14.1 percent of all reported company revenue as of 2 July 2026. Those ten firms are 0.0008 percent of the 1,239,700 companies that reported. Total reported revenue reached 76.62 trillion baht. Bangkok alone holds 61.5 percent of it. Micro and small firms make up 97.4 percent of all companies. Thai business is a long tail with a very heavy head.
How concentrated is company revenue in Thailand?
Revenue in Thailand pools at the very top. Ten of the largest companies produce 14.1 percent of all reported revenue as of 2 July 2026 (DBD, 2026). Those same ten firms are just 0.0008 percent of every company that filed. One baht in seven of national company revenue comes from ten names. The full reporting base of 1,239,700 companies earned 76.62 trillion baht. The top ten booked about 10.84 trillion baht of that total. The distance between the head and the tail is the whole story here.

Why this matters
Concentration this steep shapes how the economy moves. When 14.1 percent of company revenue sits with ten firms, national output tracks a handful of boardrooms more than it tracks the broad base. Geography sharpens the point. Bangkok alone holds 61.5 percent of all reported revenue, a concentration the World Bank has long tied to Thailand's regional income gap (World Bank, 2024). The tail is not small in number. Micro and small companies are 97.4 percent of all firms. Large firms are only 0.7 percent of the count, yet they carry most of the revenue. For a supplier, a lender, or a policymaker, the reading is simple: a few accounts move the whole market, and millions of small firms compete for what is left.
Definitions
- Revenue concentration
- The degree to which total revenue is carried by a small number of firms. High concentration means a few companies account for a large share of the whole.
- Reported revenue
- The sum of the latest filed revenue across companies that submitted a financial statement to the registry. Firms that did not file are excluded.
- Reporting company
- A registered company that submitted a financial statement counted in this base. The reporting base here is 1,239,700 companies.
- Micro and small firms
- Companies in the two smallest size bands by the registry's size classification. Together they are 97.4 percent of all companies.
- Top 10 share
- The combined revenue of the ten single companies with the highest filed revenue, divided by total reported revenue.
Assumptions
- Only companies that filed a financial statement contribute to the totals, so the reporting base is narrower than the full registry.
- The combined top ten revenue near 10.84 trillion baht is an approximate figure and small rounding differences do not change the 14.1 percent share.
- Revenue is taken from the latest available filing per company and filing years may differ slightly across firms.
Methodology
Figures come from the Department of Business Development registry as of 2 July 2026. Reported revenue is the sum of the latest filed revenue for the 1,239,700 companies that submitted a financial statement. The top ten are the ten single companies with the highest filed revenue, and their combined total near 10.84 trillion baht is an approximate figure. Companies that did not file are not counted, so the true base of registered firms is wider than the reporting base shown here.
How we verified this
- Recomputed the top 10 revenue share as 10,840,486,258,090 / 76,623,676,606,250 = 0.14148, which rounds to 14.1 percent.
- Recomputed the ten firms as a share of the reporting base: 10 / 1,239,700 = 0.0000081, which is about 0.0008 percent, a rounding error against the whole.
- Checked that top 10 revenue plus the remainder equals the total: 10.84 trillion plus 65.78 trillion equals 76.62 trillion baht.
