Revenue per Company Gap Inside Each Thai Region (2026)
In short
The widest regional gap is in the east, where Rayong books 96.74 million baht of revenue per company and Trat books 7.85 million, as of 17 July 2026. That is a 12.3-fold spread inside one region. The north follows at 6.0-fold, with Kamphaeng Phet at 23.27 million and Mae Hong Son at 3.86 million. The northeast is the most even region at 2.4-fold. A regional average tells you almost nothing about any one province.
How wide is the gap inside each region?
Very wide, and widest where the money is. In the east, Rayong earns 96.74 million baht of revenue per registered company (DBD, 2026). Trat, a short drive down the same coast, earns 7.85 million baht. That is a gap of about 12.3 times inside one region. The north is next. Kamphaeng Phet reaches 23.27 million baht per company while Mae Hong Son stops at 3.86 million, a spread of 6.0 times. Central Thailand including Bangkok spans 5.4 times, from Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya at 73.14 million down to Ang Thong at 13.63 million. The south spans 3.7 times, the west 3.4 times and the northeast just 2.4 times.

Revenue per registered company in million baht, as of 17 Jul 2026. Regions sorted by the size of the gap.
Why the east splits so hard
The eastern figure is the one to remember. Rayong has 33,083 registered companies and 3.20 trillion baht of revenue, the profile of an industrial coast. Prachin Buri, with only 8,073 companies, reaches 80.79 million baht per company. Chachoengsao sits at 61.49 million. Chon Buri, the busiest province by company count at 127,023, lands at 30.00 million. Then the line drops. Chanthaburi is at 26.99 million, Sa Kaeo at 16.45 million and Trat at 7.85 million. A handful of large operators lift some provinces far above the rest. A region is not one economy. It is a few big engines and a long tail.
The north and the south tell it differently
The north tells a different tale. Lampang earns 7.38 million baht per company, Phayao 6.26 million and Mae Hong Son 3.86 million. Chiang Mai, the regional capital with 65,164 companies, earns 8.11 million. Meanwhile Kamphaeng Phet, Lamphun and Tak all clear 20 million. Phuket is the surprise in the south. It has 52,557 companies and only 7.70 million baht each, the lowest in its region, while Chumphon leads at 28.70 million. Tourism creates many firms, not always large revenue per firm.
Why this matters
Anyone sizing a market, pricing a service or choosing a branch location by region is working with an average that no single province matches. The east averages 44.63 million baht per company, yet Trat sits at 7.85 million. The northeast averages 13.12 million and its provinces cluster between 7.59 and 17.91 million, so there the average is a fair guide. Start at province level. Treat any regional figure as a prompt to look inside, not a verdict.
Definitions
- Revenue per company
- Total reported revenue of a province divided by the number of registered entities in it, in million baht.
- Gap in times
- Revenue per company in the richest province of a region divided by that of the poorest.
- Registered entity
- A juristic person on the DBD registry, whether or not it has filed a financial statement.
- Aggregate
- A total or ratio computed across all companies in a group, not an average of individual company figures.
Assumptions
- Region boundaries are an analyst grouping by province code. Other official groupings would move some provinces, especially Tak, Suphan Buri and Nakhon Nayok.
- Entities without a filed financial statement count in the denominator but add no revenue, so every figure is a lower bound per filing company.
- A few large companies can dominate a small province, so a high figure reflects concentration as much as typical firm size.
- Revenue is booked at the registered address, which may be a head office and not where activity happens.
Methodology
Source: Department of Business Development registry aggregates by province, as of 17 July 2026, the day the data was computed. Revenue per company is province total reported revenue divided by the number of registered entities in that province, including entities that have not filed a financial statement, so the figure understates revenue per filing company. Bangkok and 76 provinces are included, 77 in all. Regions are grouped by province code: the east is Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi, Trat, Chachoengsao, Prachin Buri and Sa Kaeo. The west is Ratchaburi, Kanchanaburi, Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan. The north runs from Chiang Mai down to Phetchabun, including Tak. The northeast is the 20 provinces coded 30 to 49. The south is the 14 provinces coded 80 to 96. Central includes Bangkok, its neighbours, Ayutthaya, Saraburi, Nakhon Nayok, Suphan Buri, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Sakhon and Samut Songkhram. Provincial revenue follows the registered address and can reflect head office location. Regional averages are total revenue over total entities. A small number of entities have no province code and are excluded.
How we verified this
- Rayong 3,200,467,066,497.73 baht divided by 33,083 companies recomputes to 96.74 million baht per company.
- Trat 26,139,221,987.52 baht divided by 3,331 companies recomputes to 7.85 million baht, so the east ratio is 96.74 / 7.85 = 12.3.
- Prachin Buri 652,245,888,905.77 / 8,073 = 80.79 million baht and Chachoengsao 848,533,029,608.32 / 13,799 = 61.49 million baht.
- Lampang 76,509,878,008.58 / 10,371 = 7.38 million baht. Mae Hong Son 6,058,057,941.45 / 1,569 = 3.86 million baht.
- Kamphaeng Phet 130,533,451,339.51 / 5,610 = 23.27 million baht, so the north ratio is 23.27 / 3.86 = 6.0.
- Ayutthaya 1,493,950,989,642 / 20,425 = 73.14 and Ang Thong 39,454,638,379.16 / 2,894 = 13.63, ratio 5.4.
- Chumphon 153,527,454,323.69 / 5,350 = 28.70 and Phuket 404,446,017,570.47 / 52,557 = 7.70, ratio 3.7.
- Ratchaburi 373,507,755,623.65 / 11,932 = 31.30 and Prachuap Khiri Khan 119,723,356,927.90 / 13,177 = 9.09, ratio 3.4.
- Buri Ram 166,973,704,358.42 / 9,325 = 17.91 and Bueng Kan 17,655,312,935.66 / 2,326 = 7.59, ratio 2.4.
- All 77 province-level ratios were computed by script and the maximum and minimum within each region were re-sorted and confirmed.
