Why this matters
Company counts are the number everyone quotes, because they are easy to find. They flatter provinces full of small shops and understate provinces with a few heavy hitters. Phitsanulok has the larger crowd of registered firms, yet each one carries less revenue. Nakhon Sawan has a thinner crowd and a heavier load. For a supplier, a lender or a regional sales team, that changes the question. Phitsanulok offers more doors to knock on. Nakhon Sawan offers bigger doors. Neither province comes close to the national average of 40.28 million baht per company, so both sit well below the country as a whole. One caution applies. Revenue is booked where a company registers, not always where it trades, so a single large registrant can lift a province's total.
Definitions
- Registered company
- A juristic person on the DBD registry, counted in the province of its registered address.
- Revenue per company
- Total province revenue divided by all registered companies in that province, including those that filed no statement.
- Business base
- In this page, the combination of how many companies a province hosts and how much revenue they report.
Assumptions
- Revenue reflects only companies that filed a financial statement, so provinces with higher filing rates look larger.
- Revenue is attributed to the registered province, which may differ from where the work is done.
- A small number of large companies can move a province total, so averages are not typical firm sizes.
Methodology
Figures come from the Department of Business Development registry of juristic persons, aggregated by registered province and read as of 17 July 2026. Company count is every registered entity in the province. Revenue sums the reported revenue of companies that filed a financial statement. Revenue per company divides province revenue by the full registered count, so it is an estimate that understates the true figure for filing companies. Shares use national totals of 1,989,709 registered entities and 80.15 trillion baht of reported revenue.
