Thailand Company Register Freshness: 128,617 New Firms in 2025
In short
128,617 companies joined Thailand's business register in 2025, the most recent full year of data. That is 6.46 percent of the entire national register. Roughly one company in every fifteen on file was born that single year. 2024 added a smaller 121,657 companies. Over the past decade, 1,134,729 companies joined the register. That decade alone accounts for 57.03 percent of everything on file today.
How fresh is Thailand's company register
Ask how fresh Thailand's company register really is and the answer is 128,617 companies (DBD, 2026). That is every business founded in 2025, the most recent full year with complete data as of 7 July 2026. The full national register holds 1,989,709 companies today. Divide the 2025 count by that total and the share comes out to 6.46 percent. Put another way, roughly one company in every fifteen on the entire national register was born last year alone. The count is not a small blip against the whole. It sits just ahead of 2024, when 121,657 new companies filed in. That prior year's share was a smaller 6.11 percent. Go back a full decade and the pattern holds up. Every company founded between 2016 and 2025 adds up to 1,134,729. That decade alone makes up 57.03 percent of everything the Department of Business Development has on record today.

Why a Companies House style freshness check matters
A one in fifteen annual turnover rate is not extreme by international standards. The UK's Companies House register held 5,427,787 companies at the end of its 2025 financial year (Companies House, 2025). That register added 801,864 new incorporations over the same year. The resulting UK turnover rate was 14.77 percent, more than double Thailand's pace. Some of the gap is structural, since UK company formation is cheaper and faster to complete than in Thailand, and the UK register also strikes off far more dormant shells each year, which speeds up churn at both ends. Still, a Thai register where roughly one entry in fifteen is brand new says something concrete about the pace of business formation here. Anyone using company counts for market sizing, competitor tracking or lead generation should treat that 6.46 percent as a live, moving target, not a fixed backdrop that only needs checking once a year.
Definitions
- Founding year
- The calendar year in which a company's registration date falls, as recorded by the Department of Business Development.
- Register share
- A given year's new company count divided by the total number of companies on the national register as of the snapshot date.
- Turnover rate
- The share of an entire company register that was added in a single recent year, used here to compare how quickly a national register refreshes itself.
- Partial year
- A calendar year still in progress at the time of the snapshot, whose registration count is incomplete and is therefore excluded from year over year comparisons.
Assumptions
- Founding year reflects the DBD registration date, not the date a company began trading or first filed a financial statement.
- The 2026 count is a partial year as of 7 July 2026 and will keep rising until the year closes.
- The UK comparison uses the UK's own financial year, April to March, while the Thailand figures use the calendar year, so the two are directionally comparable rather than an exact match.
Methodology
Figures come from the Department of Business Development registry of juristic persons, aggregated by year of founding, as recorded in the Max Data database as of 7 July 2026. A company is counted toward a given year if its DBD registration date falls within that calendar year. The year 2026 is still in progress at the time of this snapshot, with 110,866 companies registered so far, so it is excluded from every year over year comparison and share calculation in this piece. Every share stated here is a year's new company count divided by the full 1,989,709 company national register measured on the same date.
How we verified this
- 128,617 divided by 1,989,709 recomputes to 6.46 percent, the 2025 share of the register stated in the tldr and key stats.
- 1,989,709 divided by 128,617 recomputes to 15.47, confirming the roughly one in fifteen figure used in the hook.
- 121,657 divided by 1,989,709 recomputes to 6.11 percent, the 2024 share.
- Summing new_companies for founding years 2016 through 2025 gives 1,134,729, which divided by 1,989,709 recomputes to 57.03 percent, the decade share.
- 801,864 divided by 5,427,787 recomputes to 14.77 percent for the UK Companies House comparison figure.
