Second place Chon Buri trails with 127,023, a gap of 685,776 companies. Divide one figure by the other and Bangkok carries 6.40 times Chon Buri's count. No other province comes close to either city. Nonthaburi sits third with 102,370 companies, then Samut Prakan with 97,609 and Pathum Thani with 81,256, three provinces that ring the capital and function almost as extensions of it. Chiang Mai is the highest ranked province outside Greater Bangkok and the eastern seaboard, with 65,164 companies, followed by Phuket at 52,557.

Why this matters
Six of Thailand's top 10 provinces by company count sit inside Greater Bangkok or the Eastern Economic Corridor, the industrial belt built around Chon Buri and Rayong's ports and factories. That clustering is not an accident of geography. Registered head offices concentrate where banks, accountants, lawyers and the Ministry of Commerce's own registration offices already sit, so a business can be headquartered in Bangkok while its factory runs three provinces away. This ranking counts where a company is registered, not where its revenue is earned or its workers commute each day. Read alongside a revenue map the same top 10 would look different, since heavy industry in Rayong and Chon Buri turns fewer registered companies into outsized output. Read on its own, the ranking answers a simpler question: where does Thailand file its paperwork. Right now the answer is overwhelmingly one city and its immediate neighbors.

- A juristic person recorded in the Department of Business Development registry, whether currently active, dormant or inactive.
- Province aggregate
- The count of companies whose registered address falls within a given province, regardless of where the business actually operates or where its staff work.
- Share of national total
- A province's company count divided by the national total of 1,989,709 registered companies, expressed as a percentage.
- Eastern Economic Corridor
- A government designated industrial zone covering Chon Buri, Rayong and Chachoengsao, built around port infrastructure and manufacturing investment.
Assumptions
- Rankings use the registered address on file, which may differ from where a company actually operates or employs staff.
- Roughly 572 registered companies nationwide carry no province code and are excluded from this ranking.
- This is a raw count ranking. It does not adjust for population, land area or economic output, so it should not be read as a measure of prosperity.
Methodology
Registered companies are counted per province using the province of each juristic person's registered address in the Department of Business Development registry, aggregated as of 7 July 2026. The count includes every registered entity with a recorded province, active and dormant alike, not just companies that filed a financial statement. A small number of records, roughly 572 nationwide, carry no province code and are excluded from every provincial ranking including this one. Company count is a headcount of registrations, not a measure of revenue, employment or economic output.
