Top Named Thai Industries by Return on Assets in 2026
In short
Manufacture of other peripheral equipment, TSIC code 26209, posts a 45.9 percent return on assets, the highest of any named Thai industry with at least 100 companies that filed a financial statement as of 17 July 2026. Risk and damage evaluation follows at 29.5 percent, more than 16 times its own financial and insurance sector average. Retail sale of leather articles ranks third at 27.3 percent. The national average return on assets across the whole registry sits at just 2.55 percent. Company level rankings elsewhere are skewed by single outlier firms, so this page ranks by industry code instead.
Which named Thai industry has the highest return on assets?
Ranked by return on assets, Manufacture of other peripheral equipment tops Thailand's named industries at 45.9 percent. That figure comes from the market_tsic_insight table, limited to TSIC codes with at least 100 companies that filed a financial statement (DBD, 2026). Risk and damage evaluation, a financial and insurance code, follows at 29.5 percent. Retail sale of leather articles in specialized stores ranks third at 27.3 percent. Activities of head offices ranks fourth at 22.9 percent. Portfolio and fund management activities ranks fifth at 17.8 percent. Every one of these codes clears the national return on assets of 2.55 percent by a wide margin. The top code alone runs about 18 times the national figure. Both leaders also dwarf their own sectors. Manufacturing's aggregate return on assets is 4.52 percent. TSIC 26209 returns more than ten times its own sector's average. Financial and insurance's aggregate return on assets is just 1.80 percent. TSIC 66210 returns more than sixteen times its own sector's average.

Why the niche codes lead, and why it matters
Neither top code is a household name. Peripheral equipment manufacturing and risk and damage evaluation, a claims adjusting niche inside insurance, are industries a general reader would never guess sit at the top of a national profitability table. That is the point of ranking by named TSIC code rather than by section. A twenty one letter sector average hides enormous variation underneath it. Manufacturing as a whole earns a modest 4.52 percent return on assets, yet one of its five digit codes clears 45 percent. Financial and insurance earns just 1.80 percent overall, yet one of its codes clears 29 percent. For a lender, an investor or a founder scanning for where capital works hardest in Thailand, the sector label is the wrong resolution. The five digit code is where the real story sits. It also explains why this page avoids the market_trends_insight roa ranking entirely. That table ranks individual companies, and its single highest return on assets figure is 3,401.6 percent, produced by one firm with almost no assets on its books relative to its profit. A number like that says nothing about an industry. An aggregate across at least 100 filing companies does.
Definitions
- Return on assets, ROA
- Aggregate net profit as a share of aggregate total assets for all companies in a group. A 10 percent return on assets means 10 satang of profit for every baht of assets held.
- TSIC code
- The Thailand Standard Industrial Classification code, a 5 digit number identifying a specific industry activity, one level more detailed than the 21 lettered industry sections.
- Named industry code
- A TSIC code matched against Thailand's official TSIC 2009 classification list to carry an industry name, since Max Data's own registry does not store a written description for 5 digit codes.
- Filing companies
- Registered companies within a TSIC code that filed a financial statement, giving the code usable revenue, profit and asset figures.
- Qualifying threshold
- The minimum of 100 companies that filed a financial statement a TSIC code needed to appear in this ranking, chosen to stop a handful of firms from swinging an entire industry's average.
Assumptions
- The ranking only includes TSIC codes with at least 100 companies that filed a financial statement, which excludes 571 smaller named codes where a handful of companies can swing the average sharply.
- Return on assets is an aggregate figure, total net profit for the code divided by total assets for the code, not an average of each company's own ratio.
- Several top ranked codes still carry a majority micro sized company base, so a small number of unusually profitable filers can lift the whole code's average.
- dataAsOf reflects the live computed_at timestamp on the aggregate tables at query time, which had refreshed to 17 July 2026 since the routine's earlier reference date.
Methodology
Return on assets is aggregate net profit divided by aggregate total assets for every company in a 5 digit TSIC code that filed a financial statement, drawn from the DBD registry and computed as of 17 July 2026. The ranking is limited to TSIC codes carrying an official Thailand Standard Industrial Classification name and at least 100 companies that filed a financial statement, which keeps the ratio from being driven by a handful of firms. Section level comparisons in the prose use the same aggregate method rolled up to the 21 lettered industry sections. Figures are industry code aggregates, not an average of each company's own ratio. Industry names come from Thailand's published TSIC 2009 classification list, since the underlying database does not store written descriptions for 5 digit codes.
How we verified this
- Re-sorted all 657 named TSIC codes with at least 100 companies that filed a financial statement by return on assets and confirmed TSIC 26209 tops the table at 45.95 percent, ahead of TSIC 66210 at 29.52 percent.
- Recomputed the gap between the top two codes as 45.95 minus 29.52, equal to 16.43 percentage points.
- Divided TSIC 26209's 45.95 percent return on assets by the national aggregate of 2.55 percent, giving a multiple of 18.0 times the national average.
- Divided TSIC 26209's 45.95 percent return on assets by manufacturing section C's own aggregate return on assets of 4.52 percent, giving a multiple of 10.2 times its own sector.
- Divided TSIC 66210's 29.52 percent return on assets by financial and insurance section K's own aggregate return on assets of 1.80 percent, giving a multiple of 16.4 times its own sector.
- Recomputed the qualifying share as 657 divided by 1,228 total five digit TSIC codes in the registry, equal to 53.5 percent carrying 100 or more companies with a filed financial statement.
- Checked the market_trends_insight roa metric directly and confirmed its top row shows a single company return of 3,401.6 percent, matching the data guide's warning that company level roa rankings are outlier driven and unfit to publish.
