In short

The other 750,009 companies, roughly 37.7 percent, have no statement on record. Any national revenue or profit total is therefore built from a little under two thirds of the register.

How many Thai companies actually report financials?

Being registered and being active are two different things. Of 1,989,709 registered companies, about 1,239,700 carry a filed financial statement (DBD, 2026), a 62.3 percent reporting rate. The remaining 750,009 have none on record. Some are dormant shells, some were formed too recently to file, and some simply have not submitted accounts. This is why a headcount of registered companies always overstates how many are truly trading.

Why the reporting rate matters

Every national revenue, profit or margin figure on this site is computed from the 1,239,700 companies that report. That is a large and representative base, but it is not the whole register. Read alongside the count of registered companies, the reporting rate is a useful honesty check. It tells you how much of the formal economy is visible in the accounts and reminds you that a raw company count and a count of active, reporting firms are not the same measure.

Definitions

Reporting rate
The share of registered companies that have at least one financial statement on file.
Dormant company
A registered company that is not currently trading and typically files no accounts.

Assumptions

Methodology

The reporting rate is the number of registered companies with at least one filed financial statement divided by the total number of registered companies, from the DBD registry as of 2 July 2026. A company counts as reporting if any statement is on file, regardless of the year. The non-reporting group mixes dormant companies, very new registrations and firms that have not submitted accounts.
