How much of Thai business sits in the central provinces?
Draw a ring around Bangkok and the provinces it touches carry a fifth of the national business base. The 14 central provinces outside the capital hold 404,768 registered companies as of 2 July 2026 (DBD, 2026). That is 20.3 percent of every firm in Thailand, one business in five. Their combined revenue reaches 13.19 trillion baht, 17.2 percent of the national total and the second largest revenue pool of any region behind Bangkok. Nonthaburi leads with 102,370 companies. Samut Prakan follows at 97,609 firms. Pathum Thani sits third at 81,256. Manufacturing is the single largest slice of Thai output at close to a quarter of GDP, and its factories cluster in exactly these provinces wrapped around the capital (NESDC, 2025).

Methodology
Figures count registered juristic persons in the Department of Business Development registry as of 2 July 2026, grouped by registered province. Central Thailand here means the 14 central provinces excluding Bangkok. Revenue is aggregate reported revenue from filed financial statements. Shares are recomputed from raw counts and totals. Provinces are assigned by registered address, which can differ from where a firm actually operates.
