Greater Bangkok holds 57.9 percent of every company registered in Thailand (DBD, 2026). The six provinces of the Bangkok Metropolitan Region count 1,152,423 firms against a national total of 1,989,709. That much you would expect of any capital region. The revenue figure is the one that stops you. Those same six provinces book 75.3 percent of all company revenue in the country, 57.71 trillion baht out of 76.62 trillion. More than half the firms, three quarters of the money. Everything outside the metro region, the whole of the North, the Northeast, the South and the East together, splits the remaining 18.91 trillion baht among 837,286 companies. Thailand does not have a business map so much as a single dense knot with a long tail attached.

Why the revenue gap is wider than the company gap
The distance between the two shares is where the real story lives. A company inside Greater Bangkok earns about 50.1 million baht of revenue on average. A company outside it earns about 22.6 million. That is a premium of roughly 2.2 times, and it is what turns 57.9 percent of firms into 75.3 percent of revenue. Bangkok city alone, one province, books 61.5 percent of the national total. Head offices register where the decisions get made, so revenue earned across the whole country is often recorded in the capital. National income accounts tell a gentler version of the same fact. The Bangkok Metropolitan Region generates close to half of Thailand's gross domestic product (NESDC, 2023). The registry, which follows where money is booked rather than where a factory or farm sits, concentrates harder still. For anyone choosing where to base a Thai company, the map gives one blunt instruction. Nearness to Bangkok remains the shortest road to scale.

- A region's total company revenue divided by the national total, expressed as a percent.
- Revenue per company
- Total revenue in a region divided by the number of companies there, a rough measure of average firm size by turnover.
- Registered company
- A juristic person recorded in the Department of Business Development registry, counted by the province of its registered address.
Assumptions
- Revenue is attributed to the province where a company is registered, not necessarily where the revenue is earned, so head office booking inflates the capital.
- Only registered juristic persons are counted, so unregistered and informal businesses fall outside the figures.
- Some registered firms are dormant or report little revenue, which pulls the revenue per company aggregate down unevenly across provinces.
- Revenue totals are rounded to two decimals in trillions of baht, so recomputed shares carry small rounding differences.
Methodology
Company counts and revenue are aggregated from the Department of Business Development registry as of 2 July 2026. Greater Bangkok is defined as the six provinces of the Bangkok Metropolitan Region: Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Samut Prakan, Samut Sakhon and Nakhon Pathom. Revenue is the sum of the latest filed annual revenue across registered companies in each province, expressed in trillions of baht and rounded to two decimals. Every share in this page is recomputed from these raw totals. Revenue per company is an aggregate, total revenue divided by company count, not an average of individual firm margins.
