Which provinces generate the most company revenue?

That single province accounts for 61.5 percent of the 76.62 trillion baht booked nationwide. Samut Prakan sits a distant second at 4.82 trillion baht, followed by Chon Buri at 3.79 trillion and Rayong at 3.22 trillion. The interesting part is what happens when you rank by revenue rather than by how many companies a province holds. Bangkok keeps the top spot on both measures. Below it the order changes hard. Samut Prakan and Rayong are factory and refinery provinces, so they punch far above their company numbers, while a populous province like Nonthaburi, heavy on small service firms, slips down the revenue list.

Why Rayong is the tell
Rayong makes the case that revenue and headcount are different maps. The province registers 33,083 companies, fewer than a quarter of Chon Buri's 127,023, yet it books 3.22 trillion baht against Chon Buri's 3.79 trillion. Divide revenue by companies and Rayong turns out about 97.5 million baht per firm, more than three times Chon Buri's 29.8 million. That gap is petrochemicals and refining. A handful of very large industrial operators on the eastern seaboard move enormous sums through a small number of legal entities. Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya tells a milder version of the same story at 73.4 million baht per company, thick with industrial estates north of the capital.
Why this matters
A company-count map of Thailand and a revenue map are not the same country. Count companies and the story is Bangkok plus a broad ring of service provinces. Weigh them by revenue and a narrow industrial spine appears: Bangkok, then the Samut Prakan factory belt, then the eastern seaboard. Ten provinces out of 77 hold 87.5 percent of all reported company revenue. For anyone allocating investment, siting a plant, or reading regional risk, the lesson is that where firms are counted and where money is actually earned diverge sharply. A province thin on companies can still be an economic heavyweight if the companies it holds are refineries rather than shops.

- Reported company revenue
- The sum of annual revenue that companies registered in a province declared on their filed financial statements. It excludes companies that did not file.
- Revenue per company
- Provincial revenue divided by the number of registered companies in that province. It is an intensity measure, not an average of individual company revenues, because the denominator includes non-filers.
- Registered head office
- The official address a company records with the registry. Revenue is attributed to this location, which may differ from where the company physically operates.
- Eastern seaboard
- The industrial coastal zone east of Bangkok covering Chon Buri, Rayong and Chachoengsao, home to Thailand's largest petrochemical and manufacturing estates.
Assumptions
- Revenue is attributed to a company's registered head office, so a firm headquartered in Bangkok but operating elsewhere counts toward Bangkok.
- Only companies that filed a financial statement contribute revenue, so provincial totals understate true economic activity.
- Revenue per company uses all registered companies as the denominator, including non-filers, so it understates the true revenue of the average filing firm.
- Figures are reported revenue from the registry and are not adjusted for inter-company transfers or double counting within corporate groups.
Methodology
Revenue is the sum of reported annual revenue across companies registered in each province, drawn from filed financial statements in the Department of Business Development registry as of 2 July 2026. Companies are assigned to the province of their registered head office, which can differ from where activity physically occurs. Revenue per company divides provincial revenue by the count of registered companies, including those that did not file, so it is a rough intensity measure rather than an average of filers. The national total of 76.62 trillion baht spans all 77 provinces.
