Why this matters
Headcount flatters the wrong province. A company count says Chachoengsao is the bigger market, yet a sales team chasing large accounts gets more revenue per door in Prachin Buri. Prachin Buri holds 0.41 percent of Thailand's registered companies and 0.81 percent of its revenue. Chachoengsao holds 0.69 percent of companies and 1.06 percent of revenue. Neither comes near Rayong at 96.74 million baht per company, but both sit far above their own inland neighbours Sa Kaeo at 16.45 million and Nakhon Nayok at 16.87 million. The gap is a reminder that one big plant can move a small province. Revenue is booked where a company registers, so a few large registrants lift the ratio. Treat the per-company figure as a size signal, not a measure of how typical firms are doing.
Definitions
- Revenue per company
- Total reported revenue of a province divided by its registered companies, in million baht.
- Registered company
- A juristic person on the Department of Business Development registry, whether or not it has filed financial statements.
- Aggregate
- A total across all companies in an area, rather than an average of individual firms.
Assumptions
- Revenue is attributed to the registered province, which may differ from where activity takes place.
- Companies without a filed statement count in the denominator but add no revenue.
- A few large companies can dominate a small province's total.
Methodology
Company counts and total reported revenue come from the Department of Business Development registry, aggregated by registered province as of 17 July 2026. Revenue per company divides a province's total reported revenue by all its registered companies, including those that have not filed financial statements, so it understates revenue per filing company and is a ratio of aggregates, not an average of individual firms. The national figure uses the same method on 1,989,709 companies.
How we verified this
- Prachin Buri revenue per company: 652,245,888,905.77 divided by 8,073 equals 80.79 million baht.
- Chachoengsao revenue per company: 848,533,029,608.32 divided by 13,799 equals 61.49 million baht.
- National revenue per company: 80,146,498,562,463.62 divided by 1,989,709 equals 40.28 million baht. Ratios to national: 80.79 / 40.28 = 2.01 and 61.49 / 40.28 = 1.53.
- Company ratio 13,799 / 8,073 = 1.71. Revenue ratio 848.53 / 652.25 = 1.30.
- Shares of national companies: 8,073 / 1,989,709 = 0.41 percent and 13,799 / 1,989,709 = 0.69 percent. Shares of revenue: 0.81 percent and 1.06 percent.
- Rayong 3,200.47 billion / 33,083 = 96.74 million. Sa Kaeo 79.94 / 4,861 = 16.45 million. Nakhon Nayok 50.54 / 2,996 = 16.87 million. Chon Buri 3,811.07 / 127,023 = 30.00 million.
