Most Efficient Provinces in Thailand by Revenue per Company 2026

Updated 6 July 2026Data as of 2 July 2026Verified

In short

Rayong generates about 97.5 million baht of revenue per registered company, the most of any Thai province as of 2 July 2026. Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya ranks second at about 73.2 million. Bangkok, home to more companies than anywhere else, ranks only third at about 58.0 million. The national average sits near 61.8 million baht per company. Where owners register and where the money is made are two different maps.

Which province makes the most money per company?

Rayong does, at about 97.5 million baht of revenue for every registered company, the highest figure among provinces with at least 10,000 companies as of 2 July 2026 (DBD, 2026). Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya comes second at about 73.2 million. Then comes the surprise. Bangkok holds 812,799 companies, more than any other province by far. Yet it produces only about 58.0 million baht of revenue per company, which ranks it third. Count companies and Bangkok wins in a walk. Measure the money each company makes and two industrial provinces of the east and central plains pull ahead of the capital. The gap is not small either. A typical Rayong company generates about 68 percent more revenue than a typical Bangkok company. That is the difference between where owners choose to register a firm and where heavy value actually gets created.

Reading Rayong with care

One province stands apart for a specific reason. Rayong hosts the Map Ta Phut complex, the center of Thai petrochemicals and oil refining, so a handful of very large plants book enormous revenue against a modest count of 33,083 companies. That mix lifts the provincial average far above what a normal trading or service firm there would earn. The pattern is not a fluke of one province though. Ayutthaya, Samut Prakan, and Samut Sakhon all sit inside the country's manufacturing belt, and all clear or approach the national average. Provincial per capita output tells the same story, with Rayong topping Thailand's gross provincial product per head on the strength of its industrial base (NESDC, 2024).

Why this matters

Company counts flatter the capital, and most league tables use them. Bangkok holds about 812,799 registered companies, so almost every ranking built on headcount puts it first and stops there. Revenue per company tells a different and more useful story for anyone deciding where to build. It says that a baht of registered activity is densest around industrial clusters, not around the head offices where firms file their paperwork. For an investor scouting a site, the efficient provinces are the ones where output per firm is high, which points east and to the central plains rather than to the crowded capital. For a policymaker, the same number is a warning about concentration, since so much of the nation's revenue leans on a few heavy industry provinces. The headline is simple. Rayong makes the most money per company in Thailand, and it is not close.

Definitions

Revenue per company
Total reported revenue in a province divided by the number of registered companies there. It measures the average commercial scale of a firm, not profit.
Reporting company
A registered company that filed a financial statement for the period. Dormant and non-filing firms exist in the count but add no revenue.
Aggregate
A province-wide total summed across all firms, rather than the figure for any single company.

Assumptions

Methodology

Revenue per company is aggregate reported revenue divided by the number of registered companies in a province, drawn from the Department of Business Development registry as of 2 July 2026. The ranking is limited to provinces with at least 10,000 registered companies so a few outliers cannot distort a thin base. Revenue reflects only companies that filed a financial statement, so provinces with many dormant or non-filing firms will show a lower figure. The national average divides total reported revenue of 76,623.7 billion baht by 1,239,700 reporting companies.
