Why this matters

A company count measures how many firms exist. Revenue measures how much commerce they carry. Songkhla keeps the two in step. Its revenue rank matches its company rank at 12th, while Nakhon Si Thammarat slips from 20th to 24th. A province that falls on revenue relative to headcount has many small registrants and fewer heavy hitters.

The contrast with Surat Thani and Phuket is sharper still. Both have more companies than Songkhla, yet each books under 11 million baht per company. Sheer registration volume is a poor guide to economic weight. Anyone sizing a southern market should look at revenue per company before choosing a base. Songkhla offers deeper pockets per firm than Nakhon Si Thammarat. Nakhon Si Thammarat still ranks fourth by company count among the seven provinces compared.

Definitions

Revenue per company
Total reported revenue of a province divided by its number of registered companies.
Registered company
A juristic person listed in the DBD registry with a registered address in the province.
Aggregate
A sum across all companies in a group, not an average of individual results.

Assumptions

Methodology

Company counts and revenue come from the Department of Business Development registry aggregates, computed on 17 July 2026 and reported here as of that date. Entity count is all registered juristic persons whose registered address falls in the province. Revenue is the sum of reported revenue from filed financial statements, so provinces with more non-filers look smaller. Revenue per company divides total revenue by all registered companies, including those that filed nothing, so it understates the figure for filers. Ratios were computed by the author and rounded to two decimals.
